Cheltenham Lottery celebrates three years of supporting local good causes

01 November 2022

The Cheltenham Lottery, an exciting weekly lottery that supports good causes in and around Cheltenham, is celebrating three years since it first launched.

Since launching three years ago over £100,000 has been donated to good causes across the borough. That’s thanks to all our generous supporters who buy a weekly £1 ticket. 60% of all £1 ticket sales to local good causes, with 50% going to the player's chosen charity and 10% going to No Child Left Behind.

Currently over 80 good causes have signed up to the lottery and are directly benefitting from the money raised. Cheltenham Lottery supports a wide range of causes in Cheltenham, including animal welfare, education, and arts organisations, as well as organisations that help children, disadvantaged groups, and the elderly.

Councillor Flo Clucas, cabinet member for communities and safety, said: “It's wonderful to see how the Cheltenham Lottery has supported our community over the last three years. We all know how hard the last few years have been on our local charities and community groups. It has been difficult for them to fundraise in the in the usual way and that’s why they need our help now more than ever, and the lottery is a very simple and rewarding way to do this.”

Charles Welsh, Executive Head at Gardners Lane and Oakwood Federation and school representative on the No Child Left Behind steering said: “The Cheltenham Lottery has brought in over £13,000 for No Child Left Behind which has enabled us to deliver direct support for children growing up in poverty such as laptops for learning project. I’d encourage as many people as possible to play the lottery.”

To be eligible for funding from the Cheltenham Lottery, good causes need to be based in the borough and provide a service which directly benefits Cheltenham’s residents. More terms and conditions can be found on the Cheltenham Lottery website.
