Fox cub at Vale Wildlife Hospital

Spotlight - Vale Wildlife Hospital

10 February 2023

Vale Wildlife Hospital was founded back in 1984 from the family home of founder, Caroline Gould. The charity now has a purpose built, fully equipped hospital in Beckford, Tewkesbury and treats over 7,500 animals ever year.

We aren’t government funded at all and rely solely on the generosity of our supporters to help us raise over £55,000 every month to continue to run.

We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and take in all sick and injured British wildlife with the aim to rehabilitate as many as possible back into the wild.

Sadly, there aren’t enough wildlife rescues so we do cover a large area around Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and beyond.

Back in 2001 when our current hospital was built, we thought it would be our forever hospital but as we grow year on year, it’s becoming apparent that we need more space.

Aside from the BIG dream of a new hospital, we are always looking at ways we can ‘revamp’ the current hospital to make it even better and enable us to continue to take in so many sick, injured and orphaned animals and birds. The money raised from Cheltenham Lottery helps us with any ‘revamp’ plans we have, along with the general running costs of the hospital which are currently over £55,000 every single month.

We decided to join the Cheltenham Lottery as it’s a fantastic way to raise funds for the charity, whilst giving our supporters a chance to win some money too.

Who wouldn’t want to join?!

Since joining Cheltenham Lottery back in late 2019, supporters have helped us raise over £6,000 which is a fantastic amount and has helped many animals and birds in our care.

We hope this will continue to grow too.
